6 Key Pants Shapes

With Anthea O'Connor - Personal Stylist

More than ever, we’re reaching for pants of all types - from tailored trousers to modern joggers - to power through the week. Stylist Anthea O’Connor selects six of our best new pants styles, pairing them with pieces from our collection and her own items.

1. Wide Leg Linen Pants

“I love wearing these pants long and slouchy with a flat shoe or sneaker. If you don’t want to wear them too long, just tailor them to the ankle - this silhouette works so well, proportionally, slightly cropped or worn longer over your shoes.”

2. Boyfriend Jeans

“The boyfriend is a really versatile cut this season. These blue jeans look just as good with the Trenery linen shirt as they do with a T-shirt and blazer. I’ve teamed them back with my sneakers, but they look just as happy worn with a heel.”

  • Non-Stretch Boyfriend Jean
  • Cotton Linen Pocket Blazer

3. Black Denim Jeans

“Black jeans can be dressed down for daytime, but they’re nighttime-ready when you add a great top and fabulous heels. These jeans almost feel like a pair of black pants - with a slightly higher waist and straight leg, they just feel that bit more tailored and polished.”

4. Cotton Drill Pants

“These are the pants you didn’t know you needed until you put them on! They’ve got a fabulous yoke detail at the waist and slit pockets. Love them worn casually with sneakers and a cotton shirt. Of course, they’ll look just as great with a more dressy silk shirt, a blazer and a flat shoe or a heel.”

5. Slouchy Jogger Pants

“These joggers are little more elevated than track pants, but not quite as structured as suit pants. Here I’ve teamed them back with my own cardigan. What I like about this combo is the contrast in textures: the chunky knit with the fabulous lightweight pants.”

6. Luxe Knit Pants

“I’m thinking of these as my 2021 track pant upgrade. The shape and structure lend themselves to pairing with all sorts of tops, so you’re not just limited to a casual T-shirt. Adding my own trench coat takes these relaxed pants to another level – paired with sneakers, it’s such an easy weekday-to-weekend outfit.”
